Where to Shop
BHV Rivoli is located at 52 rue Rivoli, open Monday to Saturday 10:00–20:00 and Sunday 11:00–19:00, accessible via metro Hôtel de Ville (lines 1 and 11). IKEA is at 144 rue Rivoli. Both venues carry lighting fixtures.
Visiting both locations on the same street allows you to examine options side by side. Bring measurements of your intended placement and note ceiling height and nearby furniture before comparing lamp dimensions and proportions.
Task and Ambient Lighting
Task lighting provides focused beams for reading or desk work; ambient lighting fills a room evenly. You might consider combining a reading lamp beside seating with a softer table lamp elsewhere to create flexible brightness zones in small spaces.
When evaluating lamps, note the beam angle and brightness range listed on product labels. Test how a lamp's light falls in your intended spot and whether its cord length and switch placement suit your layout.
Checking Bulb Compatibility
Table lamps use different bulb types and socket fittings. Before purchasing, confirm whether a lamp includes a bulb or requires separate purchase, and check the product label for socket type and power specifications.
Ask staff at either venue for specification sheets detailing bulb compatibility and any dimming options. Testing the lamp's switch and cord in the showroom helps confirm it meets your practical needs.
